Mexican soup, soccer, gardening, and card games!

The past few days have been busy with meeting even more people, sports, and service. The past few days we have met so many more people that I ready to see again. Most of the teenagers we have met we will see at the retreat coming up in a few weeks and I can't wait for the retreat.

Friday was service day. The group went to two women's houses to help around their house. The first was a woman named Margaret. She told us how she became a Christian, we sang church songs, and cleaned her kitchen and living room. After that, we went to the sweetest ladies house named Val. She fed us this wonderful soup for lunch, and cookies for dessert. We helped her with her gardening and sang church songs for her as well. I didn't notice this, but Emily told me she teared up while we sang. Who knew something so simple as singing to God around a table would make someone's day so special. All of us had fun getting to know these two ladies.

The night's activities were at the church building. Monica and Tristan, a newly married couple in the congregation, provided the food: Mexican soup, corn bread, vegetables, and of course, desserts. The rest of the night was filled with adults lunging across the table for a plastic spoon (SPOONS card game), Uno, horrible drawing during Pictionary, and Song Burst. There weren't that many people there (about 10 of us), but it allowed us to get to know each other much better.

Saturday  was filled with sports and reaching out to others at the local University. We played a lot of soccer in the morning, had donuts, and met several college students who also played soccer with us. We passed out flyers for Friend Speak and Family day at the University that afternoon.

For those who don't know about Friend Speak, it is a program that Peter Tickner, the preacher here, uses to help foreign students with their conversational English. The program uses the book of Luke to help learn new words and more about the Bible.

Family Day was a success yesterday! I will post pictures and tell you more about Family Day tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well in the States! I promise to be better about posting and keeping everyone informed about our trip! Love you all!
