Bad vs. Good

Being in Australia for 2 1/2 weeks, there are a few things that I have come to miss about home and a few things that I love about Australia. Here is the list I have come up with:

The Bad: things that I miss, in order

1. My family and friends (duh). I didn't realize that a hug or kiss made a huge difference in the day. Skype has been the BEST, literally the best, thing in the past few weeks. It has helped tremendously staying in touch with my family!!

2. DR. PEPPER!!!!!!!! Everybody in Australia thinks that DP tastes like medicine, that's why it failed over here and they don't have it anymore. Select places carry DP but it's like 5 bucks for a can...not paying that price! Not having it for a few weeks, I will soon break down and spend $5 on it...

3. My own bed. My host families have been wonderful, spoiling me with great meals or REALLY good sweets, but I miss my own bed.

4. Honey mustard! They don't have it here either. What are these Aussies thinking?! :) Also, FREE condiments. Everywhere you go, you have to pay like 50 cents for a thing of ketchup or mustard. The States would make a killin' if they charged for condiments at McDonald's alone.

5. Central heating!!! If I ever lived here, EVERY room in my house would have a space heater. I can't take all these layers at night.

Now on to the good...

The Good: things that I love, in order

1. How the people here are so friendly. So many hugs and kisses on the cheek even though I just met them. The people we have met are the best and it will be sad when we leave and have to say goodbye.

2. The landscape! Everything is so breathtaking and I can't get enough of it.

3. Just learning about the culture here.

4. Listening to the Aussies talk. It is so entertaining and different than in the States. I could sit and listen to them for hours...

5. The sweets. I really need to stop eating, but the food is half of a culture. Mom, we're gonna walk A LOT when I get home! :)

I can't think of anything else, but if I remember something later, I will mention it in another post. Hope everyone is safe and that the storms die down in Oklahoma. Today's free day was great! I'll post pictures later!

P.S. - HP 7 Part 2 comes out TWO DAYS, (I said TWO days, people!!!) before the U.S. gets to see it. Several people here said it's because Australia has a better alliance with the British than the U.S. does. Powerful people in America: I would GREATLY appreciate it if you made the British your best friends in the next month. Please and thank you.

Love,

the biggest HP fan
